Many people have forgotten that Thanksgiving is a time for being thankful for the blessings in our lives. We often look at ourselves and our circumstances and think that we don't need to be outwardly thankful, or that we have nothing to be thankful for.
Remember, there are always things that we can be thankful for. Whether you are missing a loved one; experiencing financial difficulty; the loss of your job; or perhaps even marital issues, you can still find things to be thankful for. If you have lost someone, be thankful for the time you spent with them and be thankful the ones you still have with you. If you are struggling financially, did you eat today? Do you have clothes to wear? Be thankful for that meal and for those clothes. Did you lose your job? Be thankful that you are able to work and purpose to do your best when you start your next job. Problems in your marriage? Be thankful you are still alive and able to learn from your mistakes and move forward as a better man.
You see, it's all about your perspective. You can't change the past. You can't control everything that will happen to you today. BUT, you can control how you respond. You can control how you move forward. You can control who you are and what kind of husband you are, what kind of father you are, and the man you are.
Be the best man you can be, and be thankful for the day you are given and for the opportunity to be that man.
